Building Design Culture in a Remote World
About the webinar
In-house design teams have grown rapidly, but instead of delivering breakthrough ideas, many are stuck in the loop of incremental progress. The transition to remote work hasn’t helped, leading to repetitive cycles of virtual meetings that sap creative energy and slow down innovation. But this isn’t just a remote work issue—it’s about the culture within teams.
This webinar will explore why many in-house teams struggle to break through in a remote-first world.
Our host Paul Woods will discuss practical solutions to rebuild a culture of creativity and innovation:
- Creating rituals that nurture a strong design culture, even in remote settings.
- Reintroducing spontaneity and moments of creative spark in hybrid work environments, where inspiration can feel forced or fragmented.
- Hiring the right people—not just for skills, but for their ability to drive and embody the creative culture your team needs.
- Moving beyond the tired rituals of endless post-it notes, ineffective team brainstorms, and overused design thinking exercises that rarely lead to meaningful change.

About Paul’s book
It’s long been an accepted, almost celebrated, fact of the creative industries that long hours, chaotic workflows, and egotistical colleagues are just the price you pay to produce great work. In fact, this toxic culture is the enemy of creativity, and with greater accountability and transparency in the industry—and more choice for young talent—than ever before, this unsustainable way of doing business is a ticking time bomb.
Paul’s book is a straight-talking, fun read for all creatives: Director or junior, at an agency or client-side, working in design, advertising, publishing, fashion, or film. Packed with anecdotes, self-analysis flowcharts (are YOU the asshole?!), exercises and action plans for better working practices.
